Viewed this piece today at the NSW art gallery. The oil on canvas was engaging, colours were muted around the subjects drawing you into their expression. Love the symbolism used by the artist with the young child looking upwards reaching for apples from the tree above, the apples not yet ripe, with the widower gazing down at the wilting rhubarb plant. The yellowish hues shimmer amongst the rich greens of the landscape with the subdued darkness of the subject relecting the mood and emotions. Very nice!
